Worms, 4/15/07

Our heads are like apples, dizzily
bobbing in a bathtub of beer; worms
wrap 'round the seeds, getting drunker,
drunker as their vessels sink.

Mass Sketchbook Upload

I just uploaded a bunch of pictures of pages out of my sketchbook(s). I usually don't show them to anyone, but all of these are old so I don't really care much at this point. I guess it makes them not so personal anymore... Also, they need to be put through a scanner, but I'm way too lazy to make the effort.

A Year in Review

I don't even know how I'm supposed to review this year. I have a calendar of all the shows I've been to and I have a journal that I've kept, and although I'd like to skim through both of those, I don't think I have the patience to. Maybe I'll add a quick appendix type of thing at the end of this entry, a few typical lists, but not right this second.

I'm trying to think of the most memorable anything this year and it's difficult. Too many boners to list.

I met a boy from a red state and took a plane ride to visit him. It was delightful, really. Really fun. It kind of makes me giggle when I think about it. Sometimes when Jenn and I are sitting at our regular bar, bored as fuck, surrounded by people we see every weekend, I turn to her and say, "Hey, remember the time I went to Texas?" and we laugh, really genuinely laugh. It reminds us of when we were impulsive and manic and surrounded by interesting people in interesting places, likely making interesting mistakes. It seems like too much time this year was spent at Ronny's or at the Bottle or at the Note or at the shop or at my apartment, bored and boring, thinking about things like Texas rather than going to places like Texas.

I guess whenever I had a chance to make a decision that was a little nutty, I took it, just because it was anything but the same old shit. That's one of the things that made my year pretty amazing.

It kind of sounds like this was a year of "I did that because I was fucking bored." Let's hope this upcoming year I'll get bored more often, let's hope I don't settle for Chicago's mediocre offerings. Maybe it'll make me fly to Texas again.

Happy New Year,

Rebecca

P.S. Here is your appendix. None are in any particular order.
